- Invoice Simple and Invoice2go both cap invoices by plan. Invoice Simple counts per month (3, 10 or unlimited); Invoice2go counts per year (30, 100 or unlimited).
- If you want free and unlimited in the US or Canada, Wave's Starter plan has no invoice cap and includes a mobile app.
- If you want free anywhere, Zoho Invoice allows up to 500 invoices a year on its free plan, with iPhone and Android apps.
- If you have a few regular clients, FreshBooks Lite ($23 a month at full price) has no invoice cap but allows 5 billable clients.
- If you'd rather type or say one sentence than fill in a form, Binome360 drafts the quote or invoice for you to confirm and share as a link. It doesn't take card payments.

Invoice Simple is made by Zenvoice Inc., which advertises mobile and web apps. Its App Store listing describes three plans after a free trial:

Invoice2go is part of BILL and runs on iPhone, Android and the web. Its pricing page lists:

Prices depend on your currency and billing period and weren't shown without choosing them. The trial lasts 30 days, needs a card, and Invoice2go offers a full refund if you cancel within 30 days.
So the reasons people move on are specific. A plumber sending 15 invoices a month outgrows Invoice Simple's Plus plan. A photographer who shoots 40 weddings a year outgrows Invoice2go's Starter plan. Others want a different fee structure, or a different way of creating documents on a small screen.

The options, grouped by what you need

If you just need the other one
Switching between the two. If your pain is the way the cap is counted, the other app may solve it. Invoice Simple's monthly cap suits someone steady; Invoice2go's yearly cap suits someone seasonal, who might send 25 invoices in June and none in January. Compare the plan that fits your yearly volume in each, in your own currency.
If you want free and unlimited (US and Canada)
Wave. The free Starter plan lets you create unlimited estimates and invoices, with a mobile app for invoicing and expenses. Card payments cost 2.9% + $0.60 per transaction on Starter. The Pro plan ($19 a month in the US, C$25 in Canada) adds bank imports, receipt capture and late-payment reminders. Wave is built for businesses in the US and Canada and priced in those currencies; its help centre has a page on changes for users elsewhere.
If you want free, wherever you are
Zoho Invoice. Zoho calls it a "forever-free invoicing solution". The free plan allows up to 500 invoices a year and 2 users, with apps for iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac. 500 a year is just over 40 a month; compare that with your own monthly average. It's available in several regions, including the US, UK, Canada, India and Australia.
If you have a few regular clients
FreshBooks. Invoicing-first software with iPhone and Android apps and a 30-day trial with no card. Lite costs $23 a month at full price and covers 5 billable clients, with invoicing, estimates, expenses and online payments. Plus ($43) raises that to 50 clients and adds proposals and receipt scanning. If you invoice the same few clients often, a client cap can suit you better than an invoice cap.
If you'd rather say it than type it
Binome360. This is our app, and it works differently: it's an assistant. You type or say "Estimate for Dan Morales, replace kitchen faucet, parts $180, labor 2 hours at $75" and it drafts the document, which you confirm before anything is saved. Numbering is automatic per document type, your business details and legal notes sit in the footer, you set the tax rate and choose one of four templates in your colours. You send a link by text, WhatsApp or email; the client reads it, downloads a PDF and can accept or decline an estimate online. An accepted estimate becomes an invoice in one tap. You mark invoices as paid, late ones are flagged, and a polite reminder message is drafted for you. It runs on Android, on iPhone as a web app installed from Safari, and in any browser.
Its limits, plainly: Binome360 takes no payments (clients pay you by your usual means), has no bank connection or import, and isn't accounting software or a certified e-invoicing platform. Frequently asked questions
Is there a free app like Invoice Simple?
Yes. Zoho Invoice is free up to 500 invoices a year, and Wave's Starter plan is free with unlimited invoices for businesses in the US and Canada. Both have phone apps. Card payment fees still apply when clients pay online.
How many invoices can I send with Invoice2go?
According to its pricing page, 30 a year on Starter, 100 a year on Professional and unlimited on Premium.
Can I move my invoices from Invoice Simple to another app?
You can export an invoice summary as CSV or XLSX from Settings, and a PDF for up to two months at a time. Most apps import customers from a CSV file; past invoices usually stay in your archive rather than being re-created.
Do I need an app that takes card payments?
Not necessarily. Card payments get you paid faster, but they cost a fee on each invoice. If most clients pay by bank transfer, Zelle, cash or check, an app without payments can do the job.
In short
Invoice Simple caps invoices per month and Invoice2go per year; pick an alternative by how you work. Wave (US and Canada) and Zoho Invoice are free with phone apps, FreshBooks suits a few regular clients, and Binome360 drafts estimates and invoices from one sentence.
