The short answer
- There is no single best Todoist alternative or Google Keep alternative. The right one depends on what you actually used the old app for: projects, reminders, or quick notes.
- For free reminders and lists, start with what's already on your phone: Apple Reminders on iPhone, or Google Tasks and Microsoft To Do on any phone.
- For a full task manager close to Todoist, TickTick has a free plan and a Premium plan at $49.99 a year on the US App Store at the time of writing.
- To replace Keep's sticky-note side, Apple Notes or Microsoft OneNote hold text, lists, photos and sketches.
- Binome360 fits if you want to set reminders and save small facts in one sentence or by voice, next to your budget. It is not a project manager.
Why people look for a Todoist or Google Keep alternative
Two changes, both announced by the companies themselves, explain most of the searches.
Todoist raised its prices. According to Todoist's help centre, from December 10, 2025, Pro went from $5 to $7 a month when billed monthly, and from $4 to $5 a month ($60 a year) when billed yearly, applied at each subscriber's next renewal. Todoist says the increase funds features such as the calendar layout, deadlines and voice capture. The free Beginner plan is still there, with 5 personal projects, task reminders and 3 filter views.
Google Keep lost its reminders. In the second half of 2025, Keep reminders moved to Google Tasks. Google's help page says location-based reminders are no longer available, new reminders are saved as tasks, and you need the Calendar or Tasks app installed, with notifications on, to keep getting alerts. If you used Keep as a note with an alarm attached, the tool changed underneath you.
The other reasons are personal: too many features for simple needs, a partner on a different phone, or wanting everything in one place.
What to check before you switch

If you want free reminders and lists
Apple Reminders (iPhone, iPad, Mac). Built into Apple devices. Apple's support page lists due dates and times, repeats, location-based alerts, alerts "when messaging" a specific person, shared lists with task assignment, grocery lists, subtasks and tags. It's the most complete free option if the whole household uses iPhones. The limit: no Android app.
Google Tasks (Android, iPhone, web). Free, with no in-app purchases according to the App Store. Tasks repeat by day, week, month or year, with an end date or a set number of occurrences. Google's help page notes that shared tasks and subtasks can't repeat. This is where Keep's old reminders now live, so it's the natural next step if you're staying with Google.
Microsoft To Do (Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android, web). Free, with no in-app purchases according to the App Store. You get reminders at a time you pick; repeats daily, on weekdays, weekly, monthly, yearly or on a custom pattern; a My Day list that clears every night; and lists shared through an invitation link. Microsoft notes that you share lists, not single tasks. A good pick for a household split between iPhone and Android.
If you want a full task manager
TickTick (phones, computers, tablets, watches, web). The closest match to Todoist in scope. The free plan includes 9 lists of up to 99 tasks each, list and Kanban views, natural-language input and task reminders. Premium raises that to 299 lists and adds multiple calendar views and email reminders; it costs $49.99 a year or $4.99 a month on the US App Store at the time of writing. The app also has a Pomodoro timer and a habit tracker. TickTick's help centre describes importing from other apps in the web version under Settings, then Integrations and Import; check that your old app is on its list before you rely on it.
If you run real projects (several clients, dozens of sections), staying on Todoist's free plan or paying for TickTick will usually be simpler than moving to a tool built for everyday life.
If you want to replace Keep's sticky notes
Many people used Keep for things that aren't tasks at all: a gate code, a recipe, a photo of a paint label. For that, a notes app does the job better.
Apple Notes (iPhone, iPad, Mac). Apple's iPhone User Guide lists sharing and collaborating, scanning text and documents, locking notes, and adding drawings and handwriting. Same limit as Reminders: no Android app.
Microsoft OneNote (iPhone, iPad, Android, among others). Free on the App Store, with in-app purchases tied to Microsoft 365. It organizes notes into notebooks and supports pen input, sharing and voice transcription, and Microsoft has added Sticky Notes inside OneNote for quick capture. A good landing spot if Keep's wall of notes felt messy.

If you want to just say it: Binome360

How to move your lists
- 1Export from TodoistOn the web or desktop app, open each project, click the three dots, then Manage data, then Export as CSV. Export isn't available on mobile.

What is the best free alternative to Todoist?
For lists and reminders, Microsoft To Do and Google Tasks are free with no in-app purchases, and Apple Reminders comes with the iPhone. If you need Todoist's advanced features, TickTick's free plan is the closest, with 9 lists.
Is Google Keep being shut down?
Nothing on the Google help pages we checked says so. It's Keep's reminders that moved to Google Tasks in the second half of 2025; the notes themselves stay in Keep.
Can I still get location-based reminders on Android?
Not in Keep or Google Tasks, according to Google's help page. On iPhone, Apple Reminders offers them. On Android, look for an app that explicitly lists the feature, and test it with battery saver on.
Is there an app like Google Keep with reminders?
Apple Notes plus Apple Reminders cover both sides on iPhone. OneNote handles notes and Microsoft To Do handles reminders across platforms. If you'd rather say "remind me…" and "remember that…" in one place, Binome360 does both by sentence or voice.
